The San Benito County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue (SAR) Team is a fully volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that relies entirely on community support. Our team members dedicate countless hours of their own time training, responding to emergencies, and maintaining readiness for when the call comes — day or night.
Your donation directly helps us stay mission-ready and ensures we have the tools and training needed to serve the people of San Benito County safely and effectively.
While our volunteers freely give their time, the specialized equipment and resources needed for modern search and rescue operations are costly. Your contributions help us cover critical needs such as:
✅ Rescue equipment for technical rope operations and wilderness extractions
✅ Fuel and maintenance for our SAR trailers and vehicles
✅ Training costs for certifications, courses, and scenario-based exercises
✅ Safety gear and uniforms that keep our volunteers protected in the field
Every dollar donated goes directly toward supporting these mission essentials — helping ensure that when someone is lost, injured, or missing, our team can respond quickly and safely.
We are currently raising funds to upgrade and expand our operational capabilities. Donations this year will go toward:
A dedicated off-road utility vehicle will allow our team to reach remote areas faster, transport equipment efficiently, and assist with patient extractions in rugged terrain.
Reliable communication is vital during search operations. We are working to purchase new radios to ensure every responder can stay in contact — improving safety and coordination across wide search areas.
We are replacing aging technical gear, including harnesses, ropes, litters, and medical supplies, to ensure our team is equipped with modern, dependable tools that meet the latest safety standards.
Our trailers serve as our mobile command and staging centers during large-scale operations. Planned improvements include enhanced lighting, power systems, and organization to make our field deployments more efficient and effective.
